I had to train my shy feral cat for about three weeks before she felt comfortable with this cat flap. (Thank heaven for dreamies an excellent training aid). The main issue is the clicking noise the locking mechanism makes.Set up was easy, a dreamy on the cat flap, cat ate dreamy and cat flat registered her chip. But then every time she went near the cat flap the lock clicked open and shut which frightened her.Took the batteries out and propped the door open and she stared to use it. Gradually lowered the door so she had to push it open. Finally switched cat flap back on and gave her lots of dreamies to get her over the fear of noise. Initially had to coax her in when the cat flap clicked unlocked (more dreamies)Am pleased to say she now uses the cat flap quite confidently and I’m happy because she has a secure place of her own that other cats cannot enter.

This was easy to install through our front door.I have 3 cats and they are using this with ease. Tge unlock/lock sound did scare them to start with. Now they are used yo it.You can have as many cats as you want to use it just by setting up the cats microchip.I did have a cat not mine trying to get in the flap but he was unable to as his chip was not registered. Also because it locks when it is windy the flap doesn’t blow open like others I’ve used in the past.It is a bit noisy with the mechanism tge clicking of the release system. If the cat doesn’t go in straight away then it relics.I get through batteries quickly but that could be because I have 3 cats. I have started to use recharge ones now to keep the cost down.

First of all this is a cat flap for cats with microchip implants. This is what we wanted for our three cats. Read the instructions in full and make sure you follow them. I miss read (I just glanced at the fitting instructions)! I missed that you need to purchase the adapter if you have a metal skinned door. This meant that the cat flap didn’t work. I contacted petsafe. The customer service was excellent everything was checked and I had not cut the hole big enough (250mm). Out with the tools problem solved. Cats are happy we are happy.Just take your time and all should be well. Top tip make sure you align the holes for the main screws holding the cat flap together.

I bought this in a hurry after we’d suffered a home invasion from a neighbourhood cat whilst I was out, leaving my two very much on edge.Installation was quick and easy, and programming it to accept the girls’ microchips was as simple as holding a button down for five seconds, and then getting them to peer into the tunnel. They’re cats, so that was the easiest job in the world. One word of advice: if, like me, you don’t tend to read the instruction booklets before getting to work, please bear in mind that it’s far easier to get the microchip recorded before you install the flap. Don’t make my mistake in installing it and then realising that you need to take it out again. Please also bear in mind that it needs four AA batteries, but doesn’t come with them.

After experiencing another cat gaining entry through our cat flap and eating our cats food, I decided to look for an alternative cat flap that would just let our cat in.. I read reviews about this cat flap and decided to order one.. It came within 2 days, which was good and was well packaged. .. (Doesn’t come with batteries). I read instructions first and says you need to first activate it with your cats micro chip.. This was easy to do and recognised our cats chip.. Now came hard part replacing our old cat flap with new one.. It comes with a template which is good.. The new cat flap was slightly bigger than old one, but we eventually sorted it out.. Now came the waiting game for our cat to use it.. It makes a clicking noise when it picks up your cats micro chip which activates the locking mechanism to open so your cat needs to use their head or paw to push it open.. It has a small green light which comes on too when activated and also tells you when batteries need replacing.. Our cat is slowly getting use to it and thankfully no more unwanted visitors eating her food.. Would highly recommend this product..

I had a petsafe manual catflap before and changed today for this super fancy one. Wasn’t too sure the size would be the same but it actually was, so pretty easy to swap with the old one. My cat is scared of noises so he is not that confident in going in very much as there’s a clicking noise when the catflap unlocks but I’m sure he will get used to it eventually. I think it’s great!!! Just hope the battery will last long!!!

We fitted this in the smaller pane of glass at the front of our house.I removed the trim and the double glazing panel.I then purchased some clear acrylic sheet (15mm thick) cut to size (leave a few mm shy for expansion) this was siliconed in and then the trim placed back over. This left it easier to cut with a jigsaw rather than trying to cut glass/ pay a glazier ££££s.The holes were pre drilled on a slow rpm on the drill so the acrylic doesn’t break. If we leave / sell this house we can remove the flap and pane of glass and replace it easily.Where it’s positioned beside the curtain also means there’s no draft- not that we could feel one because it’s in a sheltered enough area outside. Our youngest cat (8 months) got used to this straight away. The 9 year old took a while to get used to the loud click when it recognises the chip and unlocks. He’s now using it no problem (approx 3 weeks) Our 12 year old cat still hasn’t got used to it (2 months now) but that’s just her temperament.Excuse the dirt of the flap in the photos- it gets used quite a bit!I would recommend this as we didn’t quite realise how much our cats wanted in and out of the house, it’s easy to fit (using method above) It’s a fair price as it’s well made. The unlock click does startle the cat. You’ll have to force them through it a few times then slowly hold them in position near it and they’ll get used to it themselves. Also make sure to test it on your cat to make sure it works ok before fitting!

We’ve had this installed for three weeks now and so far so good. Can’t comment on the installation as it was installed by a professional as they manufactured our new UPVC black door but it looks good and cats have got used to it quickly. It clicks to unlock when the cats approach it so they can come inside but it takes a second to read the microchip and then click so cats had to get used to waiting that one second! If they don’t enter within about four seconds it clicks again and locks. It will then click again to unlock again if cat is still stood by cat flap.It doesn’t need a micro chip for the cats to go out as they/any pet can go out through this cat flap but do need a microchip to come back inside.Pleased with this purchase and can easily be locked manually from inside. Must admit, we thought it used the microchip reader for pets to go out as well as come in. If we had realised we probably would have shopped about for a slightly different version as we are considering getting a small puppy in the future so would have been useful for then.Set up was quick and easy, just add batteries and pop it into set up mode and hold cat flap to cat and the small light will let you know once it’s read microchip. We set up each cat one after the other with no trouble although I would recommend doing this before you install it to your door for ease.

Our cat was being constantly disturbed by two local twin cats coming in and eating her food, so this was purchased to replace a very old different model broken cat flap. The battery life of the improved version is excellent. the sensor is mounted with a shallower protrusion, meaning it’s triggered less frequently if a cat is sitting near it without wanting to enter or exit, than the old version. It also has an 8 second entry time, rather than the old 4 second entry time. This information was provided to me on the manufacturer’s helpline. The helpline by the way is superb! The improved version has a black coloured sensor in the top of the tunnel. The old version has a white coloured sensor.

I was having real trouble with other cats coming in an eating my cat’s food, peeing all over the place and bullying my poor girl. I was dubious about buying one of these cat flaps after reading some unpleasant stories but I am so glad I did.My cat is happier too now I think. She learned to use it very quickly and the noise, which is pretty loud, didn’t really bother her. She did have to learn to push a little more than her old cat flap but she has figured that out too.So far no other cats have learned how to open it – I read stories of cats learning to pull it open. More than that, I hardly ever even hear the other cats outside in the backyard so she is happier out there too.It is the same make as the previous cat flap so fitted in perfectly. Mind you, I did have a few issues with the screws so I did have to drill a couple of extra holes to hold the outside part in place.I am using rechargeable batteries in it and they are lasting fine – more than 2 weeks now (some people said the batteries they used only lasted a couple fo weeks.)Great buy. I would definitely recommend it. Everybody will be happy (except the unwanted visitors).
